Exploring the Intersection of Creativity and Engineering (All-Gender)

This camp runs two identical sessions;

Session 1: June 9th – 15th, 2019

Session 2: July 14th – 20th, 2019

The WYSE Exploring the Intersection of Creativity and Engineering summer camp is for rising high school juniors and seniors. Campers interested in pursuing engineering, design, or other fields of study are all encouraged to attend. This camp will explore design, creativity, and innovation in engineering through hands-on projects and team activities. These projects will engage the campers in brainstorming, ideation, synthesis, and prototyping. Campers will:

• Use design thinking as an approach to creative problem solving.
• Practice  empathic modeling skills to become engineers with a better understanding of user needs.
• Apply  human-centered design to engineering.
• Work  collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

This camp is run in collaboration with the new Siebel Center for Design on campus.

About the Siebel Center for Design

The mission of the Siebel Center for Design is to foster multidisciplinary collaborations across campus, using design thinking as an approach to promote human-centered design and mandated quick iterations. Through this effort, we will channel our students’ outstanding talents to develop expertise, passion and creativity toward issues and lives of consequence. Students from across campus and all fields of study will explore ideas and master skills through action—immersing, designing, making, doing.
