WYSE Middle School Summer Camps at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Grainger College of Engineering are designed to provide STEM-interested students local to the university that are rising 7th through 9th-grade the opportunity to experience advanced curricula and a collegiate experience. Engaging activities designed by professors and current engineering students will give campers early exposure to STEM and real-world design considerations. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, all camp content has been adapted to a virtual platform while maintaining a high level of engagement.

Virtual camps will have 3 components:

  • LIVE sessions using video conferencing or webinar tools (e.g. Zoom).
  • AYC or “at your convenience” sessions will include videos, articles, and labs that will be accessed through a password-protected website.
  • Community Chat (e.g. GroupMe, Discord, Slack) will be accessible for any-time communication between campers, counselors, and course instructors.

Summer 2021 Middle School Virtual Summer Camps (rising 7th to 9th-grade students):

Enrollment in the WYSE Camp programs is limited to ensure the quality of the academic experience for all involved. The camps have a merit-based admissions process that includes opportunities for financial assistance.
